I create acrylic paintings to illustrate the act of looking and analyzing an object, using paint as a vehicle to capture shifts in color, light, and texture within organic forms, while subtly conveying personal narratives from my life. This portfolio searches for special moments in the mundane and brings an emotive yet technical approach to observing the ordinary. Each piece loosely translates some of my fondest memories that I felt called to reproduce with my brush, enhancing the ever-evolving beauty of nature's gifts. I draw from subjects that are close to home, reflecting on personal interests of my own, scenic trips across the country, and the connection between humanity and the environment as I reminisce about my family’s old fruit market. Searching for the sublime in the everyday, I invite viewers to see through my lens and find their own connections to the subjects, gaining a deeper appreciation for the small joys in life. As a future educator, I utilized the production of my work as an opportunity to paint a wide variety of subjects so I can teach future generations how to effectively convey their own artistic expressions.
